YHWH El is Merciful and Gracious

Exodus 34:6-7

Moshe had been up on the holy mountain alone with GOD for forty days and nights, and he thirsted the more to see the Glory of the LORD, and spoke: “Let me, I pray You, see Your Glory! — But YHWH said: You cannot see My face; for no man can see Me and live. And YHWH said, Behold, there is a place by Me: there you shall stand on the rock. And it shall come to pass, when my Glory passes by, that I will put you in the cleft of the rock, and will cover you with My hand, until I have passed by. And I will take away My hand, and you shall see Me from behind; but My face shall not be seen” (Ex. 33:18-23).

GOD placed Moshe in the cleft of the Rock — and The Rock Is Mashiach (1 Cor. 10:4). He was pierced for our transgressions, in His pierced side, in His heart, we have found peace. Hidden in Him we can see GOD! Glory to the Highest.

“My dove, in the clefts of the Rock, in the secret place of the precipice, let me see your countenance, let me hear your voice; for sweet is your voice, and your countenance is comely” (Song of Songs 2:14).

“The Rock! His work is perfect, for all His ways are justice; a God of faithfulness and without deceit, righteous and upright is He” (Deut. 32:4).

Yeshua Mashiach could say: “He who has seen Me has seen the Father” (John 14:9). Only through Him we can come to the Father, as children of the living GOD. Glorious!

Moshe saw GOD from behind, but in the New Covenant by the Blood of His Son we see GOD face to face. The thorn-crowned Son of GOD upon the Cross is the greatest revelation of the true I AM; as Yeshua said to the Pharisees: “When you shall have lifted up the Son of Man, then you shall know that I AM” (John 8:28).

“And YHWH came down in the cloud, and stood beside him there, and proclaimed the Name of YHWH. And YHWH passed by before his face, and proclaimed, YHWH, YHWH El merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abundant in goodness and truth, keeping mercy to thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but by no means clearing the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, upon the third and upon the fourth generation (Ex. 34:5-7). — What a Glory! like a rainbow: first Yahweh El is merciful and gracious,” and last His absolute righteousness.

This rainbow of the proclamation of the Name of the LORD, by the LORD Himself, has 32 words = 25 the Truth, and 114 (= 6*19) letters, the Lamb of GOD, who gave His life for our salvation.

YHWH El is Merciful and Gracious

P• 148 = 22 * 37  פסח Päsach, the Passover; the Lamb — our Righteousness.

Your lamb shall be without blemish, a yearling male; you shall take it from the sheep, or from the goats. And ye shall keep it until the fourteenth day of this month; and the whole congregation of the assembly of Israel shall kill it between the two evenings. And they shall take of the blood, and put it on the two door-posts and on the lintel of the houses in which they eat it. And they shall eat the flesh in that night, roast with fire, and unleavened bread; with bitter herbs shall they eat it. And I will go through the land of Egypt in that night, and smite all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I Am YHWH. And the blood shall be for you as a sign on the houses in which ye are; and when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be among you for destruction, when I smite the land of Egypt” (Ex. 12:5-8, 12-13).

“Also our Passover, Mashiach, has been sacrificed; so that let us celebrate the feast, not with old leaven, nor with leaven of malice and wickedness, but with unleavened bread of sincerity and truth” (1 Cor. 5:7-8).

Not an animal, but Mashiach, the Son of GOD, Himself is our Passover Lamb. Look at  עבד יהוה  “the Bondman of YHWH”: "Surely our griefs He Himself bore, and our sorrows He carried; yet we ourselves esteemed Him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But He was pierced through for our transgressions, He was crushed for our iniquities; the chastening for our peace fell upon Him, and by His scourging we are healed. All of us like sheep have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; but YHWH has caused the iniquity of us all to fall on Him. He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He did not open His mouth; He was led like a lamb to the slaughter, and like a sheep that is silent before its shearers, so He did not open His mouth. He was taken from oppression and from judgment; and who shall declare His generation? for He was cut off out of the land of the living; for the transgression of my pople was He stricken” (Is. 53:4-8).

“Then they led Yeshua from Caiaphas into the Praetorium, and it was early; and they themselves did not enter into the Praetorium so that they would not be defiled, but might eat the Passover. — Pilate came out again and said to them, Behold, I am bringing Him out to you so that you may know that I find no guilt in Him. Yeshua then came out, wearing the crown of thorns and the purple robe. Pilate said to them, Behold, the Man! So when the chief priests and the officers saw Him, they cried out saying, Crucify, crucify! Pilate said to them, Take Him yourselves and crucify Him, for I find no guilt in Him. The Jews answered him, We have a law, and by that law He ought to die because He made Himself out to be the Son of God. — Pilate made efforts to release Him, but the Jews cried out saying, If you release this Man, you are no friend of Caesar; everyone who makes himself out to be a king opposes Caesar. Therefore when Pilate heard these words, he brought Yeshua out, and sat down on the judgment seat at a place called The Pavement, but in Hebrew, Gabbatha. Now it was the day of preparation for the Passover; it was about the sixth hour. And he said to the Jews, Behold, your King! So they cried out, Away with Him, away with Him, crucify Him! Pilate said to them, Shall I crucify your King? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Caesar. So he then handed Him over to them to be crucified” (John 18:28; 19:4-7, 12-16).

N• 481 = 13 * 37  the reconciling love of the Lamb

“When they came to the place called The Skull, there they crucified Him and the criminals, one on the right and the other on the left. But Yeshua said, FATHER, FORGIVE THEM; FOR THEY DO NOT KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING. And they cast lots, dividing up His garments among themselves. And the people stood by, looking on. And even the rulers were sneering at Him, saying, He saved others; let Him save Himself if this is the Mashiach of God, His Chosen One. The soldiers also mocked Him, coming up to Him, offering Him sour wine, and saying, If You are the King of the Jews, save Yourself! Now there was also an inscription above Him, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS. One of the criminals who were hanged there was hurling abuse at Him, saying, Are You not the Mashiach? Save Yourself and us! But the other answered, and rebuking him said, Do you not even fear God, since you are under the same sentence of condemnation? And we indeed are suffering justly, for we are receiving what we deserve for our deeds; but this man has done nothing wrong. And he said to Yeshua, Remember me when You come in Your kingdom! And Yeshua said to him, TRULY I SAY TO YOU, TODAY YOU SHALL BE WITH ME IN PARADISE. It was now about the sixth hour, and darkness fell over the whole earth until the ninth hour, because the sun was obscured; and the veil of the temple was torn in two. And Yeshua, crying out with a loud voice, said, Father, INTO YOUR HANDS I COMMIT MY SPIRIT. Having said this, He expired. Now when the centurion saw what had happened, he glorified God, saying, In very deed this man was just” (Luke 23:33-47).

So it was fulfilled what our Lord Yeshua Himself had prophesied: “As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up; so that whoever believes will in Him have eternal life. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish, but have eternal life. For God did not send the Son into the world to judge the world, but that the world might be saved through Him. He who believes in Him is not judged; he who does not believe has been judged already, because he has not believed in the Name of the only begotten Son of God” (John 3:14-18).

“For in Yeshua Mashiach all the Fullness [of GOD] was pleased to dwell, and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the Blood of His Cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven. And although you were formerly alienated and hostile in mind, engaged in evil deeds, yet He has now reconciled you in His fleshly body through death, in order to present you before Him holy and blameless and beyond reproach” (Col. 1:19-22).

S• 629 = 17 * 37  the perfection of the Lamb

“You know that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, but with precious Blood, as of a Lamb unblemished and spotless, the Blood of Mashiach. He was foreknown indeed before the foundation of the world, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you” (1 Peter 1:18-20).

“By GOD’S will we have been sanctified through the offering of the body of Yeshua Mashiach once for all. — For by one offering He has perfected for all time those who are sanctified” (Heb. 10:10, 14).

Him who knew not sin GOD has made sin for us, that we might become GOD’S righteousness in Him” (2 Cor. 5:21).

“You have come to Yeshua, the Mediator of a new covenant, and to the Blood of sprinkling, which speaks better than the blood of Abel”: “Father, forgive them!” (Heb. 12:24).

The Rock is the Lamb, what a contradiction! A rock is solid and hard, a lamb is weak. But the weakness of the innocent Lamb who shed His own Blood in love for us is the mighty unshakable Truth in the world. When the Lamb died on the Cross, the rocks were rent, and His Blood dripped on the Mercy Seat of GOD — and our sins were forgiven. Heaven and earth shall pass away, but the Lamb and His Blood-redeemed ones shall abide for ever.

R• 333 = 32 * 37  rivers of Living Water

“The soldiers therefore came, and broke the legs of the first man and of the other who was crucified with Him; coming to Yeshua, when they saw that He was already dead, they did not break His legs. But one of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true; and he knows that he is telling the truth, so that you also may believe. For these things came to pass to fulfill the Scripture, NOT A BONE OF HIM SHALL BE BROKEN. And again another Scripture says, THEY SHALL LOOK ON HIM WHOM THEY PIERCED” (John 19:33-37).

See, how the water flowed out from the smitten Rock: “And YHWH said to Moses, Go on before the people, and take with you of the elders of Israel, and your staff with which you smote the river, take in your hand, and go. Behold, I will stand before you there upon the rock on Horeb; and you shall strike the Rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so before the eyes of the elders of Israel” (Exodus 17:5-6; and again: Numbers 20:7-11).

“My people have committed two evils: they have forsaken Me, The Fountain Of Living Waters, to hew for themselves cisterns, broken cisterns That can hold no water” (Jer. 2:13).

A Man Shall Be as a hiding-place from the wind, and a covert from the storm; as Brooks of Water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great Rock in a thirsty land” (Is. 32:2).

“In that day a Fountain will be opened for the house of David and for the inhabitants of Jerusalem, for sin and for impurity” (Zech. 13:1).

“These who are clothed with white robes, who are they, and whence came they? — And he said to me, These are they who come out of the great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and have made them white in the Blood of the Lamb” (Rev. 7:13-14).

“Blessed are those who wash their robes, so that they may have the right to the Tree of Life, and may enter by the gates into the city” (Rev. 22:14).

“If we walk in the Light as He Himself is in the Light, we have fellowship with one another, and the Blood of Yeshua His Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7).

Rock of Ages, cleft for me, Let me hide myself in Thee;

Let the water and the blood, From Thy wounded side which flowed,

Be of sin the double cure, Save from wrath and make me pure.
